This was during the last day of my very first program! I taught an art history class for incarcerated women at the CERESOFE penitentiary in Merida, Yucatan in Mexico. This took place in 2014 and in these photos all the women have gathered to receive their diplomas of completion. I wanted them to feel like they had accomplished something special by participating in the workshop so I printed certificates with their names and had a little party to celebrate.
This was a tour I gave for Chicago Public School Teachers so they could incorporate art into their curriculum and teaching. This was during the exhibition of Takashi Murakami in 2017.

This was a special tour because these Northwestern students were “first-generation'“ students like myself. During our time together I showed them the collection of the Art Institute where I am an adjunct lecturer. I highlighted artists of color from our collection and we had a great conversation about the works of art and what it is like to work in a museum.
